France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.97% By Investing.com

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the declined 0.97%, while the index declined 0.96%.

The best performers of the session on the were Carrefour SA (PA:), which rose 2.96% or 0.41 points to trade at 14.06 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PA:) added 1.97% or 0.21 points to end at 10.88 and Total SA (PA:) was up 0.99% or 0.34 points to 34.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:), which fell 4.18% or 1.08 points to trade at 24.78 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:) declined 3.75% or 2.92 points to end at 74.88 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:) was down 3.51% or 5.55 points to 152.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were SCOR SE (PA:) which rose 3.10% to 24.60, Carrefour SA (PA:) which was up 2.96% to settle at 14.06 and Alstom SA (PA:) which gained 2.00% to close at 45.46.

The worst performers were Elior Group (PA:) which was down 5.26% to 5.13 in late trade, Soitec SA (PA:) which lost 4.84% to settle at 100.30 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:) which was down 4.24% to 234.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 313 to 154 and 108 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.65% to 27.35.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.08% or 1.45 to $1812.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.47% or 0.19 to hit $40.29 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.21 to trade at $42.93 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.1403, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.9089.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 96.160.
