Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski still leads the Champions League scoring charts with the unusual 2019/20 competition edging towards a unique conclusion.
The prolific Polish international netted three times across two legs that took place more than five months apart due to coronavirus as Bayern destroyed Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.
Lewandowski is some way ahead of the chasing pack, with closest rival Erling Haaland unable to improve on his 10-goal tally following Borussia Dortmund’s own last-16 exit at the hands of semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain.
Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling will attempt to close the gap to the Bayern talisman when Manchester City face Lyon in the quarter-finals on Saturday night, while Memphis Depay and Bayern’s Serge Gnabry are also level with that duo on six strikes apiece.
